At first glance Dark Energy may seem as your run of the mill Sci-Fi novel, but i assure you,  Robison Wells has an ace up his sleeve. A rag tag bunch of teens, aliens from amongst the stars, death far greater than ever before, it will draw you in and never let you leave. The story flies right off the page leaving readers itching for more. Hugging the edge of there seat and devouring line after line. No one can get enough of this fantastic new adventure.

What just happened? How could any of this be real? How could any of it possible? Gregor was having a hard time believing this. While he and his sister were falling down the grate in their laundry room, he wasn’t thinking where it might lead. Even if he was, he wouldn’t have expected this. Wouldn’t have expected these . . . creatures to be down here. It seems, though, that while Gregor wasn’t anticipating falling down into this Underland beneath the city, these creatures knew it was going to happen one day. How could they have known that? Well, apparently, it was because of some prophecy. That makes total sense, doesn’t it? If extremely oversized animals can walk the Earth, why not throw in a prophecy? Gregor continues to try to find his way through Underland, trying to make sense of this prophecy, and why these giant rats seem to want to kill him.

This book is in a series of five books. The next one is called Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane.

I really like how the main character is witty and sarcastic versus dull and craven, or cowardly. It gives the book humor, as well as making sure that it holds your attention.

The main thing I didn’t like about this book it that it didn’t really talk much about his sister. The author kind of just introduced her, then continues on with the occasional glance.

I give this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.
