Conor Broekhart wants to fly. He was born in a hot air balloon and has been intrigued with flying ever since. Most of his days are spent exploring the castle with the princess, Isabella, and studying the science of flight. While exploring the castle, Conor discovers a conspiracy against the king. Conor intervenes and is said to be a traitor. He is sent to Little Saltee, an island for criminals. Prisoners are forced to mine for diamonds in horrid conditions. There is only one way to escape, and that is to fly. Months then years go by. Then the day comes that Conor must find the courage to trust his plans and drawings and take to the skies.
What I liked about this book is that is gives really good detail to how the prison is like and what it looks like.
What I didn't like is that I couldn't really understand what his drawings of the plane was and how it looked like.
I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.
